Dende o ano 1992 está administrativamente ligada á Mancomunidade da Área Intermunicipal de Vigo , á comarca de Vigo e integra a Área Metropolitana de Vigo. Segundo o IGE, en 2025 tiña 15 103 habitantes. O xentilicio é gondomarés ou gondomarense.
