Como archivo intermedio, recibe documentación cerrada hace 5 años o más desde los distintos archivos centrales de las Unidades, Centros y Organismos militares (UCOs) ubicados en las comunidades autónomas de Asturias, Cantabria, Castilla y León, Galicia, País Vasco y La Rioja, y transfiere documentación de más de 20 años de antigüedad a los archivos históricos del Ejército de Tierra, llamados Archivos Generales Militares.
