Segundo o INE e o IGE en 2011 tiña trece habitantes (nove homes e catro mulleres), a mesma cantidade ca en 2010 e un menos ca en 2008 e 2007 (9 homes e 5 mulleres neses anos). Debe o nome á ponte de Ponterriza, sobre o río Arenteiro, que tamén lle dá nome a Ponterriza (Moldes, Boborás).
