A praia de Area é un areal do concello de Viveiro, situado a 4 km da vila. Conta con 1450 metros de lonxitude e un ancho variable entre 80 e 30 metros dependendo das mareas. Esta praia posúe unha gran variedade de accesos, un amplo paseo en paralelo, de toda clase de servizos turísticos (postos de socorro, hoteis, restaurantes, discoteca-pub, albergue xuvenil...), así coma unha alta ocupación na tempada estival e augas transparentes e tranquilas.
